Data Science Courses

Welcome to the efl Data Science Courses

People working together and celebrating achievement

In the winter semester 2019/2020 we, the efl - the Data Science Institute, started to offer introductory courses in Data Science for students of the Goethe University Frankfurt to train students in the basics of data analysis. For successful participation in the offered courses, course participants receive a certificate instead of ECTS points, which is issued by efl. The learning content is checked by means of a short test at the end of each course day.

The course program in this winter semester will start with an introductory course in Python (13. and 15.12.2021) and an introductory course in Data Science (17.12.2021). The participation in the Data Science course does not require the prior attendance of the introductory course in Python, as long as sufficient basic knowledge of Python is available. The registration is made online via a registration form, whereby the number of participants for each of the two courses is limited to 25. The registration deadline is 15 September 2021. The registration is available here:

In addition to teaching theoretical concepts of Python and Data Science, the courses focus on practical application and implementation in so-called coding sessions, in which data from the economic context serve as a basis.

Please note that there might be short-term modifications regarding the structure and organization of the course due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, e.g., moving to an online format. In general, the course will be held by sticking to the rules of a hygienic concept developed for this course, e.g., keeping the minimum distance of 1.5m.
