Lukas Jürgensmeier

Research Assistant
Lukas Jürgensmeier studied business administration at the University of Augsburg (B.Sc.) and Goethe University (M.Sc.), both with a quantitative focus on data science, analytics, and econometrics. Since April 2017 he is a research assistant at the Chair of Electronic Commerce (Prof. Skiera).

In his research, Lukas focuses on the interface between data science and marketing — quantitative marketing. Using econometric methods, machine learning, and large data sets, he asks how visibility in search results influences actors' success on digital platforms such as Amazon and Google and if this comes with implications for fair competition.

Since its founding in 2018, Lukas is active in the non-profit initiative TechAcademy e.V. and currently leads the association with over 20 student volunteers. Together with other students, he designed a didactic concept that enables around 80 students each semester to learn basic or advanced programming skills in Data Science with R or Python and Web Development. For this work in digitization education, together with TechAcademy e.V., Lukas received the award "Student of the Year 2021", jointly awarded by the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers and the German National Association for Student Affairs.
