In memory of Thomas Schäfer

Thomas Schäfer
With shock we learn of the sudden death of Thomas Schäfer. We owe him so much. Our deepest sympathy now belongs to his family.

During his many years as Hesse's Minister of Finance, Thomas Schäfer played a major role in helping to build up an efficient research landscape in the economic and financial sector in Frankfurt. In particular, he was associated with the House of Finance at Goethe University and several of its institutes. He contributed in many ways to the success of the E-Finance Lab and the efl - the Data Science Institute, and was actively involved in its board of trustees.

In Thomas Schäfer, we are losing a benevolent friend who, especially in terms of professional debates, will always be remembered as a model of a responsible, judicious politician and warm-hearted person.

We will keep an honourable and grateful memory of him.
